Chief Executive Officer

Frank Alornu

He joined the organization in November 2007 as the Business Development Manager, bringing a wealth of expertise and commitment to the mission of financial inclusion. Through consistent leadership and strategic vision, he rose through the ranks and now steers the organization as CEO.

Frank brings over two decades of professional experience in the fields of development finance and economics. Before joining VFG, he served as a Microfinance Consultant, supporting financial institutions and community-based programs in enhancing access to finance for underserved populations. His work as a Land Economist enabled him to engage in research and advisory services on land use and development planning. In addition, he has served as a Trainer and Researcher, equipping professionals with skills and insights into economic development and sustainability.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Economy, a Master of Arts in Development Studies, and an MBA in Operations Management. These academic achievements have equipped him with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in economic planning, social development, and efficient business operations.

Raphael Mireku Frimpong

Head, People & Culture

Nelly Kpodo

Name & Position: Nelly Kpodo –Head People & Culture Joined VFG then APED in May 2003.

Previous Experiences: 5 years experience in Sales and Marketing prior to VFG, 17 years experience with VFG in Credit, Branch Management, Client Service, Marketing, Communications, Social Performance and Integration.

Qualifications: MBA – Total Quality Management, BBA-Marketing and HND-Marketing.

Christian Journey & Family: A pastor in training, Vice President COCEM Ladies of the World Missionary Church, Co-Fund Raising and Event organizer for Missions Conferences, a member of the World Missionary Church Accra, pastoring Somanya Missions Church. ( part of training). Married to Rev. Daniel Etsey Kpodo with 2 boys.

Head, Information Technology (HIT)

William Nkum

William joined VisionFund Ghana in June 2014 as a Network Administrator and has steadily risen through the ranks to lead VFG’s technology strategy, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives. In his current role, he provides strategic leadership in aligning IT systems and innovations with the organization’s mission of empowering communities through financial inclusion.

He brings a wealth of hands-on experience in the information and communication technology space. His professional journey includes serving as an IT Officer, Project Engineer, Systems Administrator, and Network Administrator. Across these roles, William has built a strong foundation in IT infrastructure design, systems optimization, data security, network management, and IT project implementation. His in-depth technical expertise and adaptive approach enable him to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions that support VFG’s operations and growth.

William holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in IT Security, a Postgraduate Diploma in Data Science and Business Analytics, and an MBA (General Management). In addition, he is certified as a PECB/ISO 27001 Lead Implementer (LI) and holds a Certificate in Project Management. His blend of academic qualifications and industry certifications makes him well-equipped to lead initiatives related to IT governance, risk management, business intelligence, and compliance with global data security standards.

Head, Partnerships and Business Development (HPBD)

George Ayarik

George joined VisionFund Ghana in April 2017 as a Regional Manager, bringing with him a strong background in credit management, team leadership, and institutional growth strategies. In his current role, he leads efforts to identify strategic partnerships, drive business development initiatives, and strengthen stakeholder relations to support VFG’s mission.

He brings several years of experience in microfinance and banking, having steadily progressed through increasingly senior roles such as Loan Officer, Credit Supervisor, Branch Manager, Deputy Head of Credit, Regional Manager, and Managing Director (MD). These roles have equipped him with a well-rounded understanding of credit administration, operational management, business growth, and people development — all of which enhance his ability to foster collaborations that deliver both financial and social impact.

George holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting option) and an Executive Master’s in Business Administration (Finance). This academic foundation, combined with hands-on experience, gives him deep insight into financial analysis, strategic planning, and partnership development, which are essential to his leadership in driving growth and innovation at VFG.

Head, Risk and Compliance (HRC)

Mawuli Semordzi

He joined the organization in August 2005 as a Credit Officer and has since played an integral role in strengthening VFG’s internal controls, operational risk frameworks, and regulatory compliance structures.

Mawuli’s professional journey reflects a strong foundation in both education and financial services. Before entering the microfinance industry, he worked as a teacher. This sharpened his communication and analytical skills. Within VFG, he has served in various leadership capacities including Branch Manager, Credit Manager, and Operations Manager. These roles have provided him with a thorough understanding of client relationships, portfolio management, branch operations, and institutional risk, all of which are critical to his current oversight of risk and compliance functions.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics and a Master of Science in Industrial Mathematics. He is also a certified Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB). His strong academic and professional background equips him with the analytical rigor and regulatory insight needed to identify, assess, and mitigate risks while ensuring adherence to internal policies and industry standards.
